The Director of Māori Health Outcomes in a newly created position that will bring focused leadership to the Commission’s role in advancing Māori health and improving health outcomes, within the context of the organisation’s contribution to supporting the Crown’s obligation to Māori under Te Tiriti o Waitangi. The Director will build a small team of experts to support this work across the Commission.
This role will be a member of the Executive Leadership Team of the Commission, within which you will have collective responsibility for the development and implementation of strategic expectations and plans, and the overall performance of the Commission.
To be successful in this position you will need sound knowledge of tikanga Māori and te reo with an understanding of the Te Tiriti o Waitangi and its application to Māori advancement and equity in the health and disability sector and a knowledge of mātauranga Māori, indigenous models of healthcare and kaupapa Māori research practices.
The Health Quality & Safety Commission is a stand-alone Crown entity with a Board responsible to the Minister of Health. The Commission is responsible for assisting providers across the whole health and disability sector, both private and public, to improve service safety and quality and therefore outcomes for all those who use these services in New Zealand.
