We are looking for an Assets & Logistical Coordinator, Kaiwhiriwhiri i Ngā Rawa Aroturuki ā-Hiko, i ngā Mahi Whakahaere to join us for 2 years on a fixed term contract until the end of October 2021.
About our team - Mō tō mātou rōpū
Fisheries Observer & Verification Services perform a variety of functions that are critical to the sustainable management of New Zealand’s fisheries and the environmental effects of fishing. We deliver Fisheries Observer services, plan and manage logistics and deployments for Fisheries Observers, and review and analyse footage captured by our Electronic Monitoring programme.
About the role - Kōrero mō te tūranga
This is a brand new role, created to support the Team Leader Electronic Reporting by receiving, sending, handling and importing data devices (solid state drives) and the data contained on these devices. This is essential work to support both internal and external stakeholders to enable a robust end-to-end process. It is expected that the Asset and Logistics Coordinator will help refine and improve on the workflow for maximum efficiency.
Your organisational excellence and stringent adherence to processes will enable our organisation to proactively address critical strategic risks and deliver against its strategic priorities. You’ll bring a variety of experience, particularly in asset management, reporting, and robust information security. A tertiary qualification(s) in a relevant discipline is preferred but not required.
We need someone who is well versed in building and maintaining successful relationships. In this role, you’ll get to work with intelligent and passionate people with diverse backgrounds and skill sets across Fisheries New Zealand and MPI, other New Zealand Government agencies, Tangata Whenua, and industry bodies.

Skills and Experience - Ngā Pūkenga me ngā Wheako
· Asset management, Purchasing or Warehousing qualification or equivalent experience
· Experience in developing efficient and effective business processes.
· Computer literate, proficient in MS Office suite. ·
· Experience in managing relationships with an assortment of external stakeholders as it applies to financial policies.
· Strong working practice with safety and wellbeing in mind.
· Knowledge of business reporting and data management processes.
· Proactive approach to consistently improving business process.
· Time management skills to ensure the financial support service to the programme is maintained.

Fisheries New Zealand is a new business unit established within the Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) to drive a stronger focus on managing New Zealand's valuable fisheries resources, and their place in the wider marine environment. The Fisheries Science & Information Directorate incorporates Fisheries New Zealand’s data management, science and research, and observer services functions.
