Taking a practical, holistic approach to employment and wellbeing, our employment consultants work with people who are facing personal or health challenges, to find and keep work.

It’s a rewarding role where you walk alongside the person seeking employment and get to truly make a difference in their life. You’ll work closely with people accessing community mental health and addiction teams, employers, social services, government agencies and training providers. 

This is a permanent role working Monday - Friday, 8.30am – 5.00pm largely based in Porirua with travel to Wellington and occasionally all over the region.

About you
We’re looking for someone who can easily engage and support people to connect with employers, whānau, health and welfare providers, and Pacific communities. Our employment consultants work alongside people and their whānau from a range of backgrounds, cultures and experiences. Cultural competence is essential in this role, and we particularly encourage Pacific people to apply. Lived experience is also valued.

Successful employment consultants have the following skill sets:

  • Ability to build relationships and achieve results for people

  • Love to be part of a team but can confidently work independently

  • Ability to think quickly and problem-solve effectively

  • Full NZ driver licence

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Experience working in the social service, addiction, youth, mental health, disability, employment or other sectors that focus on improving people’s lives.

  • It is preferred that applicants hold the New Zealand Level 4 Certificate in Health and Wellbeing or a recognised equivalent. Alternatively, you can commence free study towards this within six months of starting your employment.
