Folau releases deeply personal new single ahead of Tongan Language Week

Tongan artist Folau has released his new single ‘Mamahi Moe Kona,’ written and recorded in a single night following the passing of his grandparents. The song reflects on grief, loneliness and the loss of the people who shape us most, set against a blend of island reggae, R&B and Pacific soul. 

"Writing Mamahi Moe Kona reminded me of who I am and let me finally tell my story from my own perspective, not anyone else's," says Folau.

The release lands just before Tongan Language Week (17–23 August), continuing Folau's use of Lea Faka Tonga in his music. A Pacific Music Awards finalist, Folau has notched three Official Aotearoa Music Chart appearances this year, building a following across Aotearoa, Australia and the Pacific.

‘Mamahi Moe Kona’ was supported by NZ On Air's Pasifika Single Fund and is out now on all streaming platforms.
