About this role | Mō tēnei tūranga 

This role is part of the Financial Payments & Collections team who are responsible to ensure the accurate and timely payment and collection of all Ministry transactions. 

The main purpose of the Accounts Payable Advisor is to process transactions accurately and efficiently for payment in line with agreed processes to ensure internal and external levels are met or exceeded. Along with providing professional support and issue resolution to internal customers and suppliers. 

The public service aims to pay suppliers on a timely basis within 10 working days of receiving an invoice. You will be responsible to manage and lead the accurate and timely completion of accounts payable tasks which includes outgoing payments (excluding payroll) whether by interface, purchase order (PO), or other process. 

Salary range: $60,079.00 - $70,342.00 per annum + 3% KiwiSaver. The successful candidate will be appointed at a salary which reflects individual skills and experience.

About you | Mōhou ake 

We're looking for an experienced person with excellent communication (both oral and written) who can deliver high quality, accurate and timely completion of supplier maintenance, purchase card, and expense functions within the Accounts Payable team; has a good understanding of financial control and can identify process improvement opportunities; isn't afraid to be in the detail but can balance that by not losing sight of the big picture. 

To be successful in this role you will have the ability to build effective relationships and credibility with internal and external customers of the Ministry, team members and colleagues in Finance and have the ability and willingness to adhere to the Public Service Standards of Integrity and Conduct

About our group and team | Mātau rōpū ake 

The Finance division is responsible for supporting decision-makers in the organisation by giving best practice finance advice and services. Finance delivers through business partnering, budget management, financial stewardship, appropriations management, forecasting, capital project and accounting, ensuring good practice financial controls and compliance, reporting and supporting the ongoing sustainability of the Ministry.   

The Finance division has supports investment decisions, improving the Ministry’s impact, prioritisation and optimisation to ensure the organisation is fulfilling its role within the education system.
