He kōrero mōu - What we are looking for:

Our Policy & Implementation group designs operational policy to implement government strategy and priorities with impact across tertiary education, careers and the lives of New Zealanders.

We're seeking an Advisor to join our collaborative and supportive group to work on operational policy, as well as support the ongoing management of our detailed funding policy settings.

In this role your mahi could include: 

  • Supporting Senior and Principal Advisors with operational policy work, including advice and design and implementation, across a range of projects and strategic priorities. Tasks could include:

  1. Drafting and reviewing memos, board papers, technical guidance, website content and query responses

  2. Developing assessment criteria, their supporting guidance and new/improved business processes

  3. Providing and coordinating implementation advice to our government education partners on policy proposals

  4. Managing the internal queries mailbox

  • Supporting the development, implementation, and interpretation of service approaches, funding conditions and operational policy rules

  • Using effective communication to implement changes

  • Working across the business and with other government agencies, networking and collaborating to develop fit-for-purpose operational policy solutions.

We are looking for a person who has:   

  • a proactive attitude and passion for learning and development

  • great written and relationship skills, and experience of working with and writing for, a broad range of internal and external stakeholders

  • sound judgement and decision-making skills and is comfortable navigating ambiguity

  • an inquisitive and collaborative mind-set and always has the customer and outcomes in mind

  • an understanding of government structures and processes, political savviness, and experience with applying legal settings would be ideal but not essential

  • ideally, someone who has experience in government operational policy, strategic policy, or implementation design

  • an understanding of the tertiary education sector and working within government processes is highly desirable but not essential.

Salary range for this role is $84,242 up to $99,108 + 3% KiwiSaver. The successful candidate will be appointed at a salary which reflects individual skills and experience.
