About this role | Mō tēnei tūranga

This is a full-time, permanent position. 

We’re looking for a Business Support Manager to lead and manage a team delivering high-quality administration and business support services across the region. You’ll work closely with the Director of Education and their leadership team to ensure smooth operations, effective planning, and strong governance. 

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading and developing an integrated workplan aligned to Ministry priorities.

  • Managing budgets, reporting, and risk to support sound decision-making.

  • Driving business improvement initiatives and fostering collaboration across teams.

  • Creating a safe, inclusive workplace where people thrive and perform at their best 

Salary range: $86,412 - $129,618 per annum + 3% KiwiSaver. The successful candidate will be appointed at a salary which reflects individual skills and experience.

About you | Mōhou ake

You’ll bring proven experience in leading teams and delivering organisational change. You’re skilled at building relationships, managing complex workflows, and providing strategic advice to senior leaders. 

You’ll also have:

  • Strong understanding of public sector processes and service delivery.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

  • Ability to work at pace, manage competing priorities, and deliver quality outcomes.

  • Knowledge of financial management, planning, and governance processes.

  • A commitment to creating an inclusive, positive workplace culture.

  • The ability and willingness to adhere to the Public Service Standards of Integrity and Conduct.

 

About our group and team | Mātau rōpū ake 

Our team provides leadership and integrated services to the sector and others. This includes services such as learning support and education advice and regulation functions for schools and early learning services. 

As a frontline group we develop and harness existing relationships with communities at the regional and local level through the Directors of Education, including deep relationships with iwi and hapū. Our Directors of Education have the lead role and relationship with early learning, kōhanga, school and kura, and this means they will be across all the services we provide at a local level. 

We also collectively strengthen relationships with our diverse communities who support Māori, Pacific peoples, disabled ākonga and/or ākonga with learning support needs, and ākonga from disadvantaged backgrounds.
