Starting salary: $ 96,307 to $ 113,303 + Superannuation

The role | Te tūnga 

These fixed term roles will support a Stats NZ project to develop and deliver several updated macroeconomic measures, including collecting and reporting on a monthly Consumers Price Index from the start of 2027.

In this role, you will:

  • Collect information needs and data requirements from teams across Stats NZ

  • Negotiate requirements between data suppliers and Stats NZ, with a focus on feasibility, viability, desirability, legality, and ethics

  • Oversee, govern, capture, and validate information about data and data quality

  • Develop a supply and acquisition road map for Stats NZ's monthly CPI and data related needs

  • Coordinate data acquisition as part of the development of the monthly CPI

  • Work closely with Stats NZ's legal, privacy and data security teams

What you bring | Nōu te rourou   

To be successful in this role you will need:  

  • In-depth understanding of data and data quality

  • 3-5 years' experience in data sourcing or contract management

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral

  • Experience turning technical data requirements into contracts 

  • The ability to adapt and deal with ambiguity

  • Attention to detail

  • Experience building and maintaining strong stakeholder/customer relationships

  • Demonstrated customer centricity.

  • Demonstrated advocacy for, or support of, diversity and inclusion.

  • Familiarity or commitment to developing understanding of Te Tiriti, Tikanga, Te Reo, Te Ao Māori
