Kaiwhakakī Wakarere Aircraft Refueller - Auckland

1 Cyril Kay Road, Auckland Airport, Auckland 2022, New Zealand

  • Full-time

We believe that if we want to be a world class Kiwi Company, we shouldn’t just employ people, divide them into functional departments and tell them what to do. Instead, we defined a purpose – powering better journeys, today and tomorrow - and go about achieving this by setting clear goals and expectations and embracing diversity of thought.

At Z, Customer Experience is at the heart of everything we do - our strategy, capability development and investment decisions. We're creating and continually developing products and digital channels our customers will love and that make their lives easier.

Job Description

Our Aviation Operations team works hard to ensure fuel is delivered safely and efficiently to our customers, on-spec, on-time, day and night, rain or shine.

Our Aircraft Refuellers work as part of a large team carrying out aircraft refuelling, operating heavy vehicles, performing fuel quality checks and assisting with minor maintenance checks and activities on our vehicles and fuel storage depot equipment.

We currently have an opportunity to join our highly motivated Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland Airport team. Our aviation refuellers really love the work they do, it offers variety, and a great work-life balance. You will have the chance to work with a range of people and enjoy great benefits while becoming trained and qualified; here’s your opportunity to become part of that.

You will have the opportunity to

  • Keep fit while refuelling a large range of aircraft, from small private planes to huge international airliners, using Aviation Tankers and Hydrant Dispensers.

  • Perform operational checks and minor maintenance tasks on refuelling vehicles and fuel storage depot tanks and equipment.

  • Ensure high safety and quality standards required for aviation fuelling operations are maintained.

  • Learn how aviation fuel is managed throughout the supply chain, from the refinery through to the aircraft tanks and put this into practice.

  • Become part of the Z whānau and a tightknit team.

  • Work as part of a roster that doesn’t tie you to a Mon-Fri 9-5 working life.

Qualifications - What you’ll bring to Z

  • Experience in or an understanding of aircraft refuelling, refuelling equipment and storage depot operations is beneficial but not essential as you will receive full training.

  • A love of teamwork and the initiative to work independently too.

  • The ability to follow procedures, to operate safely and efficiently and to think on your feet when challenges present themselves.

  • An excellent work ethic and good timekeeping.

  • Great communication and interpersonal skills to ensure positive relationships with key customers.

  • Commitment to work within a rotating roster and be comfortable working outside in a range of weather.

  • A Class 4 New Zealand Drivers Licence is essential and ideally you will hold a Dangerous Goods endorsement.

And of course, you’ll be passionate about what matters to Z, embracing and living our values to help us deliver on our aspirations and broader commitment to Aotearoa New Zealand.

Don’t meet every single requirement. At Z we are dedicated to building a diverse, inclusive and authentic workplace, so if you’re excited about this role but your past experience doesn’t align perfectly with every qualification in the job description, we encourage you to apply anyway. You may be just the right candidate for this or other roles.

Additional Information - What we can offer you

  • A competitive remuneration package including short-term incentive (bonus) plan, medical insurance for you and your family, enhanced employer contribution for KiwiSaver.

  • Generous leave provisions including enhanced sick leave, parental leave benefits and the option to buy additional leave.

  • The opportunity to contribute and be part of a supportive team that is here to make a difference.

  • A chance to build your own capability through learning from some of the industry’s most knowledgeable people who have a desire to share their insights along with access to upskilling opportunities and career development across the organisation.

  • An option to supplement extra income with overtime opportunities with a higher overtime rate.

  • Two days a year to do Good in your Hood, though our volunteering scheme, a chance for you to help others in your community in a meaningful way to you.

The base salary for this role starts at $77,350 with an additional overtime rate and plenty of optional overtime. We also offer a 10% bonus + 5% KiwiSaver + Southern Cross Health Insurance. Base salary reviewed annually.
