About this role | Mō tēnei tūranga
The Manager Pathways and Transitions is a permanent, full-time role.
Reporting to the GM Qualifications and Pathways, the Manager Pathways and Transitions will develop and implement functional strategies, priorities and work programmes to support the achievement of outcomes that are aligned to the Ministry’s purpose and agreed strategies.
You will be responsible for the management of a team and leadership of programmes of work to increase achievement and improve retention and progression of young people into further learning, training, or work.
Specifically, you will:
Commission and use research and evaluations to inform the design of programmes, products and services that will raise student achievement.
Deliver options to enable the successful movement of senior secondary students from school to training, work or further study for the benefit of both the individual students and their communities
Oversee quality procurement practices that ensure services meet expected outcomes efficiently and effectively.
Lead design initiatives, programmes and tools that support the design and implementation of the national curriculum and NCEA/qualifications at senior secondary level.
Build strong ‘change’ narratives that motivate and inspire others to question and improve the status quo
Translate strategy into frameworks, programmes, and initiatives
Create a working environment within the team that encourages high performance, engagement, collaboration across teams, knowledge sharing, ongoing learning, creativity, and innovation
Work with the General Manager to develop and strengthen strategic partnerships through the education network, economic development agencies, employers, and funders to facilitate learning and develop seamless skill-to-employment pathways
Salary range: $142,856 - $178,570 per annum + 3% kiwi saver. The successful candidate will be appointed at a salary which reflects individual skills and experience.

About you | Mōhou ake
The ideal candidate will have:
People and operational leadership experience in a complex environment, with a proven ability to shift mindsets and foster collaborative action
Thorough knowledge of NCEA, the proposed qualifications and how the key workstreams contribute to these
An understanding of existing career advice process and transition options available to schools and their limitations
An understanding of literacy & numeracy/te reo Matatini me te Pāngarau requirements for NCEA and strategies to implement these in both Kura Auraki and Kura Māori settings
Experience using data and insights to identify trends, risks and opportunities, and to inform functional decision making.
Sound knowledge of government and public sector processes
The ability to provide advice and build trusting relationships with a broad range of audiences
A track-record of collaborating to achieve results.
The ability and willingness to adhere to the Public Service Standards of Integrity and Conduct.

Qualifications and Pathways (QP) group is focused on the progression and achievement of secondary-school-aged rangatahi | young people to continue into further learning, training or work and is part of Te Poutāhū (the Curriculum Centre).
