Information Directorate: Mōhiohio

The Information Directorate delivers the ICT infrastructure and information tools to support the business and develops data, data products, information, and new tools for colleagues, customers, TEOs, and other agencies to support TEC's invest and champion goals.

Data & Analytics: Raraunga me ngā Tātaritanga:

The Analytics team is the analytics centre of excellence at TEC and contributes to a data-driven culture that adds value to TEC's business. It is focused on the delivery of business intelligence data products, statistical modelling and data science that creates valuable insights to influence the decision making of TEC's businesses.

About the Role: He angitūtanga:

Reporting to the Team Leader - Analytics, this is a rare and exciting role that will be responsible for establishing best BI practices, leading enterprise BI development and migration projects, and mentoring junior BI developers. Ultimately, the objective is to deliver BI products to support decision-making, promote a data-driven culture and make a difference to learners in the tertiary sector. This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced Principal or Senior-level BI Developer who is a trusted technical expert, capable of working with a range of stakeholders and driving organisational change:

 

  • Lead and facilitate workshops to gather business intelligence requirements across the business and develop use cases for insights and reporting.

  • Ensure an enterprise approach to business intelligence is undertaken at TEC, with a focus on best practices, security, privacy, automation, consistency, and quality data from source.

  • Plan and manage business intelligence activities (e.g., development, migration, governance) alongside the Analytics team leader.

  • Advise on the appropriate use of data visualisation for different purposes and context.

  • Supports the integration of the BI environment with 3rd party tools to provide predictive analytics and machine learning solutions.

  • Provide mentorship and guidance to other members in the team and drive TEC's Business intelligence practice.

 

What we are looking for: He kōrero mōu

We are looking for someone who has a passion for Business Intelligence, has great communications, customer service and people skills and willing to work in a collaborative and fast-paced environment. You will bring the following:

  • Solid experience in Power BI (i.e. visualisation, DAX, governance, stewardship, ETL)

  • Intermediate knowledge and experience with Qlik Sense

  • Advanced SQL, strong experience with data analysis and data modelling

  • Advanced understanding of database structures, theories, principles, and practices.

  • Good practise data visualisation and data storytelling skills

  • Experience using an agile methodology.

  • Ability to engage with business users to understand their information needs.

  • Very strong customer service orientation

  • Willingness and experience to coach and mentor staff

  • JavaScript & design thinking are desirable.
