About this role | Mō tēnei tūranga
We are seeking an experienced Senior Advisor to join our Business Support team for a Fixed term/secondment to finish May 2026.
In this pivotal role you will bring your senior level experience across range of responsibilities and duties including and not limited to, providing high quality advice and guidance across Te Poutāhū | Curriculum Centre and the wider ministry teams. Working with complex issues, you will liaise with a wide range of stakeholders to help in the preparation of documents, plans and processes to support the overall strategic and operational objectives.
The ideal candidates will be passionate about making a difference, have strong attention to detail, be flexible to adapt to changing work volumes and able to communicate effectively and clearly with our stakeholders to understand what they need.
Key requirements of this role include:
Strong working knowledge of the machinery of government.
An aptitude for analysing information and being able to quickly dissimilate it to provide clear and transparent responses.
Have highly developed verbal and written communication.
Support and contribute to key learnings and development of projects and initiatives.
Be able to engage and build credible relationships quickly, and positively.
Have a high aptitude for working and managing sensitive and confidential information.
Bring previous experience in initiating and maintaining efficient processes to manage information.
Able to provide fit for purpose and credible advice while identifying key impacts on plans and actions that need to be taken.
Salary range: $84,425 - $102,271 per annum + 3% kiwi saver. The successful candidate will be appointed at a salary which reflects individual skills and experience.

About our group and team | Mātau rōpū ake
The purpose of Te Poutāhū is to lead the national curricula for Aotearoa New Zealand and associated systems and processes of assessment and aromatawai.
We design, develop and provide curriculum services for teachers, kaiako, leaders, ākonga, their whānau and communities that reflect their identities, languages and cultures. We bring together curriculum, teaching expertise and evidence for the development, support and review of inclusive curricula, assessment and NCEA. Our strengths are across te reo Māori, mātauranga Māori, disability, inclusive learning support and culturally relevant content so that Te Mahau supports learning that is inclusive for all ākonga.
We support the people who are closest to, and directly serve, ākonga and whānau. We do this through Te Mahau where we connect with the sector, working collaboratively to identify priorities and design local solutions.
