We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join our Data Collection Systems Team on a fixed term basis through to August 2026 to backfill parental leave.
Raraunga me ngā Tātaritanga: Data & Digital Development
Data is key for TEC. The Data & Digital Development group establishes and manages the data pipeline from data collections to data development and insights to support the core business systems to the level required by TEC and partner organisations. The group is comprised of four teams grouped in centres of excellence: Data Collection, Data Development, Analytics and Web Development.
He angitūtanga: About the Role
This role involves working with the Data Architecture team and Data Analyst team to model implementation options and quickly build technical solutions which meet business requirements
Development of ELT architecture, and implementation using cloud technologies
Building data systems and pipelines
Analyse and understand business requirements
Identify implementation options
Develop a proof of concept to validate performance, ease of use etc.
Provide technical assistance in the identification, evaluation, and development of software systems
Develop and review coding documentations and other technical specifications
Assist various unit and integration testing

We are looking for someone who has a passion for data science, has great communications, customer service and people skills and willing to work in a collaborative and fast-paced environment.
You will bring the following:
Data related Azure technology such as Azure PostgreSQL, Azure SQL, Azure Cosmos DB
Azure Data Factory and DevOps (CI/CD Pipelines)
Solid experience in version control software, writing T-SQL scripts and MS SQL Server
Experience using Databricks and Profisee
Highly developed diagnosis skills
Motivated to resolve complex problems
Capable of primarily self-directed work
User-centric development approach

The salary range for this position starts from $104,653 up to $123,121 + 3% KiwiSaver depending on demonstrable skills and experience.
