Massey University - Te Kunenga ki Pūrehuroa is a globally ranked institution, recognised for its commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and research leadership grounded on its commitments to Te Tiriti o Waitangi. With three campuses in Palmerston North, Auckland, and Wellington, and an extensive cohort of distance students, Massey champions a dynamic learning environment and driving impact across both Aotearoa New Zealand and the world.
The University is now undertaking a global search to appoint its next Vice-Chancellor. This appointment represents a unique opportunity to lead the University in ensuring Te Tiriti principles are central to governance and operations and that it continues to enable the creation of knowledge that reaches the highest possible levels of advancement and attainment.
Key areas of focus will be building trust and bringing together the Massey community, increasing the reputation of the University, promoting impactful research and developing pedagogical offerings that are contemporary and accessible to all. Enriching the student experience will be critical to the University's success and in its ability to continue attracting and developing curious and engaged students who leave Massey as world-ready graduates committed to making a better world. Central to these goals will be nurturing and enhancing Massey's partnerships with iwi, government, industry, other universities and the public in local communities around its three campuses.
The next Vice-Chancellor will embody the vision, mission, and values of Massey, serving as a visionary, determined, courageous, and inspiring leader with a deep understanding of scholarly excellence, tertiary education and universities. The next Vice-Chancellor must bring an ability to engage with Māori and Pacific peoples through direct experience or work with Indigenous people in other parts of the world. They will also need to demonstrate experience advancing the principles of equity, diversity and inclusion.
While they will bring a clear vision for the future of Massey, they will be a collegial, collaborative and engaged leader, motivated by connecting with constituency groups internal and external to the University.
