Niuean Pop Artist Tyrun Blends Language and Love in Debut EP ‘Fall In Love Again

‍Aotearoa-raised Niuean-Samoan pop artist Tyrun opens up in the release of his debut EP ‘Fall In Love Again’, blending Vagahau Niue (the Niuean language) with contemporary pop and R&B to explore identity, love and belonging.‍ ‍

Built from personal moments and lived experience, Tyrun says the project captures a journey of vulnerability and self-discovery.‍ ‍

“I didn’t set out to make this about love, but the more I wrote, the more I came to accept just how much I wear my heart on my sleeve.”‍ ‍

As part of the Niuean diaspora in New Zealand, Tyrun uses music to navigate and connect with his identity, language and culture, weaving Vagahau Niue throughout his lyrics. With this EP, he wants to create a gateway that allows Niueans to re-engage with their language.

Across four tracks — ‘FILA’, ‘Honestly’, ‘Chemistry’, and ‘feelinloveagain’ — ‘Fall In Love Again’ offers a dynamic listening experience, shifting between stripped-back moments and fuller, high-energy production.

Tyrun is an artist who truly knows who stands behind him, and he’s proud to represent both communities.

“This music is first and foremost for Tagata Niue, and for young queer Pasifika people who are looking to see themselves reflected,” he says.

The EP is released alongside the third and final single, ‘Chemistry’, a bold track that leans into Miami bass-inspired pop. Written for the dancefloor, the track preaches self-love as a form of power.

“I like having an attitude when I sing songs like this,” says Tyrun. “It’s a confidence booster. Self-love is still love — and if you can’t love yourself well, it’s hard to love anyone else.”

All four tracks are produced by friend and long-time collaborator JARNA, who has worked with a number of both established and emerging Kiwi artists, including SWIDT, Diggy Dupé and Brandn Shiraz.

‘Fall in Love Again’ is available now on all major streaming platforms. ‍ ‍
