About this role | Mō tēnei tūranga
The successful candidate needs to be based in Wellington for the role.
As an Advisor, you will be supporting Senior Advisors and the Director on Crown Entity monitoring and Ministerial Board appointments work streams. You’ll be joining a small, high-performing team with a culture of constructive and respectful engagement, where we work to our strengths, support each other and work together to make an impact.
You will assist in the development and implementation of robust monitoring and appointments frameworks, drafting reports to the responsible Ministers and coordinating appointments processes.
You will contribute to stakeholder engagement meetings, maintain effective communication channels with internal and external stakeholders and provide timely reporting and analysis to inform advice to Ministers.
Salary range: $74,815 - $90,347 per annum plus KiwiSaver. The successful candidate will be appointed at a salary which reflects individual skills and experience.

About you | Mōhou ake
To be successful in the role, you will be working collaboratively with key internal and external stakeholders and developing relationships at senior levels. We are looking for someone who is proactive, eager to learn and works collaboratively.
You will demonstrate knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an understanding of Te Ao Māori and promote tikanga and Te Reo Māori. You will also have knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an appreciation of Te Tiriti o Waitangi (the Treaty of Waitangi) as it applies in the public sector.
You will also demonstrate:
an understanding of machinery of government,
an understanding of non-financial and/or financial performance,
strong relationship skills,
analytical skills, and
report writing skills
The ability and willingness to adhere to the Public Service Standards of Integrity and Conduct.
About our group and team | Mātau rōpū ake
The Monitoring and Appointments team is responsible for providing advice to the Minister of Education on the performance of the Education Crown Agents (New Zealand Qualifications Authority, Tertiary Education Commission and Education New Zealand) and Ministerial board appointments. Our team sits in the Systems, Connections and Early Learning Policy Group within Te Pou Kaupapahere.
Te Pou Kaupapahere is responsible for whole-of-system, end-to-end policy integration covering early learning, compulsory schooling, and tertiary including Māori medium, te reo Māori, Pacific and Learning Support. We hold the relationship with all Ministers and provide integrated policy advice to them. We collaborate across government organisations so our advice to Ministers is joined up.
