Our Fund Specialists/ Ngā Mātanga Pūtea team ensures TEC's investments achieve the strategic intent set by the TEC Strategy. This involves the coordination and management of the annual funding and recovery cycles, including in-year adjustments, to enable continuous improvement. The Funds span research, degree-level training, vocational training, and foundational education.

We are seeking an Analyst to join our Fund Specialists team. Ideally you will have experience in a public sector financial role. You will have a strong interest in developing financial systems and people processes to achieve the best possible value from public funds.

About the Role: He angitūtanga: 

  • Work with and support the team to provide robust analytical support for complex funding processes that allocate, pay, and recover funding from TEC providers and measure the value from fund performance

  • Support and develop methodologies and processes to negotiate, allocate and recover funding, thinking about the incentives they create on training providers to make the best use of their funding

  • Make best use of financial and non-financial data available to the TEC in various systems.

  • Support the team to working with the Ministry of Education and TEC Strategy teams to lift the effectiveness of existing and new funds

  • Ensure key datasets in TEC's finance system, are up to date by processing financial transactions following decisions by panels and Fund Owners

  • Support the team to coordinate the work of teams across TEC to operate the existing Funds and to develop new ones.

  • Proven knowledge and experience of government funding frameworks

  • Proven data analysis skills and the use of financial and analytical tools and systems

  • The ability to communicate audience centric insights from sets of data and to consider varied cultures and backgrounds

  • Interpersonal skills to support the coordination of people and work streams across all levels of an organisation.

  • A keen eye for detail and curiosity about how things work

  • A relevant tertiary qualification, in finance, commerce, or social science.

Remuneration

The salary range for this position starts from $86k up to $102k, + 3% Kiwisaver contributions, depending on demonstrable skills and experience.
