Ko te āhua o te tūranga | About the Role

As the Housing First Lead, you will provide strategic and operational leadership to a team working directly with whānau in transitional, permanent and emergency housing.

As the Lead, you will:

  • Lead a team delivering wrap-around social services to support whānau

  • Turn strategy into action with clear outcomes and direction

  • Manage service delivery, contracts, reporting and risk

  • Build strong, trusted relationships with iwi, whānau and partners

  • Create a safe, supportive and culturally strong team environment

  • Champion kaupapa Māori and uphold te Tiriti in everyday practice

Ko wai koe | About You
You’re an experienced leader in social or community services, confident in kaupapa Māori environments and passionate about supporting whānau to thrive.
 

  • Proven leadership experience within social services or a related sector

  • Confident in te ao Māori, with knowledge of tikanga and Māori frameworks including whānau, hapū, and iwi.

  • Understanding of WAI 2750 and MAIHI Ka Ora – key Māori housing policies and strategies.

  • Experience supporting whānau through health, social, or mental health programmes

  • Demonstrated strategic thinking, sound judgement, and risk assessment capabilities

  • Lived or professional experience working alongside whānau Māori
