We are looking to recruit a registered nurse to join our Kaituitui Whanau Ora Tapuhi as part of our Pae Ora Māori health team based at Te Whare Rapuora Palmerston North Hospital, with a focus but not limited to the Tararua region.

Te Turanga Mahi – About the role

The Kaituitui Whanau Ora Tapuhi works in partnership with the Pae Ora whanau care team to help facilitate an inclusive approach to providing services and opportunities to whanau across Te Pae Hauora o Ruahine o Tararua.  This role will have a particular focus in the Tararua region.

The Kaituitui Whanau Ora Tapuhi utilises clinical and cultural expertise to support and advocate on behalf of whanau accessing primary health and Te Whatu Ora hospital services and understands and incorporates the concepts of Whanau Ora in delivering quality, whanau focused care.

In this role you will be based onsite and work closely with the Pae Ora team, ward clinical staff, hospital specialist services as well as health and iwi providers in the community.

This role will report to the Kaiaraara Whānau Ora link nurse.

Nga Pukenga, Nga tohu ou – What you will need:

  • A current APC

  • Relevant and practical experience working with whanau Maori

  • Knowledge of local community providers and support services

  • A current full New Zealand drivers license

  • Knowledge of Te Ao Māori me ona tikanga and Te Reo Māori

  • A drive to be solution focused and think outside the square

  • Understanding that from a Maori world view we are collective and holistic in   our approach and response when working with whanau

  • Understanding of the Whanau Ora framework and Te Whare Tapa Wha

  • Understanding and familiar with Te Tiriti o Waitangi
