Survivor Experiences Service

Te Tari Taiwhenua provides continuing support to Survivors of abuse in care through the Survivor Experiences Service.  

The Survivor Experiences Service provides a safe, supportive, confidential place for Survivors to share their experiences of abuse in care, to support healing. The Service supports Survivors to locate and obtain their personal records related to their time in care.  

Manager Relationships role 

As the Manager Relationships you will head a team of relationship leads who work, integrated with the other Survivor-facing teams, to establish working relationships with communities of Survivors.  

The Manager Relationships ensures that relationship building fits in with other activity of the team and that leads work collaboratively to deliver bespoke support to communities of Survivors. The Manger Relationships leads the establishment and maintenance of cultural and professional relationships with external stakeholders, including iwi networks that support Survivors. 

To be successful in this role you will have demonstratable experience that allows you to:

  • Rapidly develop an overall strategy for relationship development and maintenance that can be tailored to the specific needs of Māori, Pacific Peoples, disabled people and Deaf survivors. 

  • Gather community intelligence to inform policy and services 

  • Enable and strengthen the team to develop productive relationships with Survivors and their communities

  • Understand public sector frameworks and use these to bring out the best in talented staff who may have had limited or no public sector experience

  • Ensure that the development and maintenance of relationships occurs in close collaboration with other teams

  • Understand what is being delivered, see opportunities to work better, present ideas to managers and colleagues for actioning, and swiftly implement innovations once agreed upon

  • Manage complex issues and projects, and to make sense of quickly evolving situations.

You’ll have strong resilience and emotional strength, sound judgement and tact in dealing with complex and sensitive issues.

You'll be joining a team passionate about supporting Survivors of abuse in care. This is a new role giving you the ability to contribute to shaping the data management and uplift strategy as well as improving Service performance based on your findings and reporting this to high levels of government.
