He angitūtanga: About the Role
As Principal Advisor Literacy & Numeracy, you will be the go-to expert driving TEC's work to strengthen adult literacy and numeracy across the tertiary education sector. This is a senior role where you will influence policy, lead strategic initiatives, and provide thought leadership to improve learner success.
Your day-to-day will include:
Leading the interpretation and implementation of key frameworks such as Learning Progressions and the Adult Literacy and Numeracy Assessment Tool (LNAAT).
Advising government agencies, tertiary education organisations (TEOs), and sector stakeholders.
Turning research evidence into practical strategies and interventions.
Representing TEC externally and building strong collaborative relationships.
This is a permanent role based at our National office in Wellington.

We are after someone who is passionate about making a difference and has the expertise to lead change in this critical area.
We are looking for someone who will bring the following:
Deep knowledge of adult literacy and numeracy, including NZ frameworks and international best practice.
Strong understanding of the tertiary education sector and its role in improving learner outcomes.
Proven experience leading complex projects and influencing policy at a senior level.
Exceptional analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to turn research evidence into practical strategies and advice.
Outstanding communication and relationship management skills, with a collaborative approach.

The salary range for this position starts from $128,284 up to $150,923 + 3% KiwiSaver. This salary is negotiable depending on demonstrable skills and experience.
