This is a fixed term role to cover parental leave through to 19 April 2027. It is estimated the successful candidate would start in the role in March 2026.

He angitūtanga: About the Role

The Operational Policy & Implementation group uses collaborative design to bridge the gap between tertiary funding policies and their implementation, driving positive outcomes for Aotearoa's learners, communities, and employers.

The Team Manager Operational Policy & Implementation leads the Senior Advisors and Advisors within the group and reports to the Manager Operational Policy & Implementation alongside Principal Advisors. This role is pivotal in connecting strategy to delivery, fostering collaboration across directorates, and ensuring our policies work for learners, providers, and stakeholders.

Collectively, the focus of the group is to:

  • Advise on the implementation of policy proposals and settings

  • Design operational policy solutions that deliver on policy intent and support organisational strategy

  • Support the Ministry of Education to develop secondary legislation that governs funding for tertiary education and lead the development of funding conditions

  • Provide advice and guidance on the interpretation of legislation and related policy products

  • Apply exceptional writing skills and combine attention to detail with strategic oversight to ensure work is accurate, makes the complex simple, is consistent, and aligned with intent

  • Work collaboratively and with influence within the group, across the business, and with external government and sector stakeholders

The salary range for this position starts from $139,760 up to $164,424 + 3% KiwiSaver depending on demonstrable skills and experience.
