We’re looking for a dynamic and committed Team Manager to lead the Kā Au Kahuraki initiative – a unique cross-agency collaboration between the Ministry of Education, New Zealand Police, and Ngāi Tahu – Mana Whenua – Ngāi Tūāhuriri.
In this pivotal role, you will:
Lead and manage a dedicated team, ensuring effective planning and use of resources.
Drive the delivery of strategic and operational priorities that uplift mana, strengthen whānau, and restore safe, thriving homes and communities.
Champion outcomes that align with the Ministry’s purpose and the shared vision of our partner agencies.
This is an opportunity to be part of a kaupapa that puts tamariki at the centre and supports their potential to flourish.
Salary range: $98,056 - $147,084 per annum + 3% kiwi saver. The successful candidate will be appointed at a salary which reflects individual skills and experience.

A relevant tertiary qualification.
A full, clean New Zealand driving license.

About our group and team | Mātau rōpū ake
The Canterbury Te Mahau team provides leadership and integrated services to the education sector and wider communities, in alignment with national priorities such as achievement, attendance, and learning support. These services include learning support, education advice, and regulatory functions for schools and early learning services across the region.
The Team Manager- Kā Au Kahuraki role sits within the Operations & Insights team, which is responsible for managing regional business operations and processes. The team is the critical connection point between day-to-day operational delivery and the region’s longer-term strategic direction. We support the Director of Education and the wider leadership team to provide a responsive, accessible, and integrated local support function.
