About this role | Mō tēnei tūranga 

  • Permanent Part-time (0.6FTE) 

As the Analyst – Kā Āu Kahuraki, you’ll play a key role in supporting cross-agency efforts to prevent harm and improve outcomes for tamariki and whānau. You’ll use data to uncover insights, identify trends, and inform early intervention strategies grounded in kaupapa Māori and community perspectives. Your work will directly support collaborative decision-making and contribute to the success of this important initiative. 

You will: 

  • Analyse and interpret data to identify drivers of harm and opportunities for early intervention.

  • Develop clear, accessible reports and insights to support cross-agency collaboration.

  • Maintain and manage datasets, ensuring accuracy and alignment with Ministry priorities.

  • Provide timely analytical support to internal teams and external partners.

Salary range: $74,015 - $89,547 per annum + 3% kiwi saver. The successful candidate will be appointed at a salary which reflects individual skills and experience.

About you | Mōhou ake 

You are a curious and detail-oriented analyst who thrives in a collaborative, purpose-driven environment.You bring a strong background in data analysis and reporting, with a passion for using insights to support initiatives that improve outcomes for tamariki and whānau. 

You will have: 

  • Experience working in a complex organisation or multi-agency environment.

  • A relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experience in data analysis, statistics, or a related field.

  • A full, clean New Zealand driver’s licence. 

To be successful in this role, you’ll be confident working with data to identify trends and insights, communicating findings clearly, and building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders. 

You will also offer: 

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience using data tools and software.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present complex information in plain language.

  • A commitment to continuous learning and professional development.

  • The ability and willingness to adhere to the Public Service Standards of Integrity and Conduct.

 

About our group and team | Mātau rōpū ake  

The Canterbury Te Mahau team provides leadership and integrated services to the education sector and wider communities, in alignment with national priorities such as achievement, attendance, and learning support. These services include learning support, education advice, and regulatory functions for schools and early learning services across the region. 

The Analyst- Kā Au Kahuraki role sits within the Operations & Insights team and reports to the Team Manager- Kā Au Kahuraki.  Our team is responsible for managing regional business operations and processes. The team is the critical connection point between day-to-day operational delivery and the region’s longer-term strategic direction.
