Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role
Te Herenga Waka – Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting a Pūkenga - Lecturer to join our kāhui at Te Kawa a Māui – the School of Māori Studies.
The successful applicant will be expected to coordinate and teach courses in Māori Studies or Māori Resource Management. You will also pursue and develop a unique research agenda that contributes to te Ao Māori.
Kaupapa Matua – Key Responsibilities:
Teach undergraduate and potentially postgraduate courses.
Supervise post-graduate students to completion.
Develop and maintain kaupapa rangahau that build mātauranga and contribute positively to te ao Māori.
Publish, disseminate, and communicate your mahi to various audiences.
Contribute to Hautūtanga/leadership responsibilities, administrative roles, strategic endeavours, and outreach to hapori.

You are:
Motivated, student-focused and collegial.
Comfortable in tikanga and kaupapa Māori settings, including the marae, and you are passionate about te reo Māori.
Able and willing to teach in core papers of our undergraduate majors.
Be comfortable and keen to supervise postgraduate students.
Your research will contribute to te Ao Māori and complement the mahi of the school. Ideally, you will have a PhD or be working towards one. You can think strategically, work collaboratively, take initiative and work independently, and you are value- and mission-driven. You thrive upon the various tasks and opportunities that academia has to offer.
